Dr. Emre Korkmaz

Dr Emre Korkmaz has a special interest in Refugee issues. He is also a Departmental Lecturer in Migration and Development and part of the core academic staff of MSc in Migration Studies at the University of Oxford’s Department of International Development. He is a research fellow at St Edmund Hall and a Research Associate at the Centre for Technology and Global Affairs of the Department of Politics and International Relations.
Between October 2016 and September 2018, he was a British Academy, Newton International Fellow/ post-doctoral researcher at ODID. He is recognized by the British Academy as an emerging leader (exceptional promise), Research and Innovation. He is a political scientist and international relations expert by training. He was awarded his PhD from Istanbul University’s Department of International Relations in June 2016. His academic work focuses on different aspects of migration and refugee studies and he has authored numerous articles on the position of Syrian refugees as well as the emigration of Turkish nationals to the West.
